On the 13th April, 2023, our principal investigator Professor Yvonne McDermott Rees will be speaking at the webinar "Using Open Source Intelligence to Map Perpetrators of Atrocity Crimes". More details can be found at the International Bar Association webpage.
On the 17th May, 2023, Professor Yvonne McDermott Rees and TRUE project's postdoctoral research associate Dr Alice Liefgreen will be giving a talk at the International Workshop on Deepfakes 2023, "Deepfakes within the Framing of Security: Law Enforcement & the Generation / Application / Detection of Deepfakes". They will be speaking about the qualitative and quantitative data we have collected so far as part of the TRUE project.
Yvonne and Alice will be visiting University of Lausanne - Faculty of Law, Criminal Justice and Public Administration between the 5th and 9th of June 2023 to meet with various colleagues and organised two events. On the 6th of June, they will be holding a seminar and panel on "Surviving and Thriving in Interdisciplinary Research". On the 8th of June, they will hold a conference on "Analysing the Impact of Deepfakes and Synthetic Media on Accountability Processes for Mass Human Rights Violations". On June 30th, Alice will be giving a talk at the European Association of Social Psychology meeting pre-conference 'State of trust in social and political psychology: What we know, what we don’t, and where we should be looking" held in Krakow. The meeting is co-organised by TRUE psychology researcher Dr Gabriela Jiga-Boy.
Alice will be attending the Subjective Probability, Utility, and Decision Making (SPUDM) conference in Vienna between the 20th and 24th of August, where she will give a talk on the empirical data on perceived trustworthiness and credibility of user-generated evidence found on social media.
